World's largest mobile manufacturing factory to be inaugurated in India

  • Recently South Korean president Moon Jae-in and PM Narendra Modi inaugurated a Samsung Electronics facility in Noida in Uttar Pradesh
  • South Korea will increase its production from 67 million currently in India to nearly 120 million
  • Samsung's Noida plant was set up in 1995-96
  • Samsung to invest 4915 crore for expanding the unit, from here it will not only serve India but other western and European countries too
  • The new facility will be set up on an additional land of 35 acres adjacent to the current facility
  • It will double the production of mobile phones and refrigerators and provide employment to a lot of Indians

  • Moon embarked on state visits to India and Singapore from July 8 to 13 as part of efforts to speed up his "New Southern Policy" initiative. 
  • India and Singapore, who were allied with the U.S. much more during the Obama administration, now worry about being "bullied" as all other allies, such as Mexico, Canada and the EU

Sandeep Singh who had debuted in international cricket in 2004, was on his way to join the national squad ahead of their departure for the FIH World Cup in Germany. He was travelling on the Delhi-Kalka Shatabdi Express when a Railway Protection Force jawan accidentally shot him. The bullet fractured his rib, damaged his spine, kidneys and liver.
